Title: Manager, Business Information

Work location: California - Walnut Creek or Woodland Hills

This position will start at work at home but will be office based once offices re-open.


The Manager, Business Information is responsible for managing a team of associates who analyze medical cost and utilization data.  The team supports Anthem’s California commercial HMO products with the primary objective of identifying opportunities for contracted capitated providers to improve cost and utilization performance.

  • The manager must be able to collaborate with all internal stakeholders involved in managing capitated provider performance within the market.  Employs high-level critical thinking skills, superior interpersonal communications skills, as well as a record of generating insights that support improving provider performance. 
  • Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:
  • Hires, train, coach, counsel, and evaluate performance of direct reports.
  • Lead team analysis of cost and utilization performance of capitated medical groups; identify areas of potential improvement.
  • Designs and oversee the development of reporting and data visualization methods as required to communicate provider performance.
  • Partner with provider network and clinical teams to identify anomalies in performance and develop remediation plans.
  • Assure quality and integrity of data collected, analysis performed, and reports generated.
  • Develop methods for improving internal techniques and processes.
  • Maintain awareness of market and industry trends.



  • Requires BA/BS and 5-7 years related experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
  • Previous experience as a supervisor of direct reports.
  • Experience in managed care, the healthcare delivery system, provider networks, and associated data analysis approaches required.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, planning, oral and written communication skills required.
  • Ability to present information internally and externally in a virtual setting.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Managed Care experience with emphasis on capitated provider performance
  • Familiarity with contracting models, provider reimbursement strategies and renewal modeling
  • Demonstrates effective situational leadership, quick and continuous learning style and high impact communication skills
  • Communicates effectively with all levels in the organization including executives and Medical Directors
  • Displays excellent leadership, problem solving, organizational, planning, presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Influences and collaborates across functional lines with variety of matrix partners and levels
