Director, Diversity & Inclusion
 

Preferred Location: Indianapolis, IN; Atlanta, GA; St. Louis, MO; Richmond, VA; or Virginia Beach, VA

Position will be office based once COVID-19 restrictions are lifted; must reside within a reasonable commutable distance to the office

 

The Director, Diversity & Inclusion is responsible for leading the end to end implementation of key diversity and inclusion strategies across the entire enterprise. The strategies can include implementation and oversight of one or more of the following; EEO/AA, Talent Management, Learning and Development, Talent Acquisition, Talent Insights, Communication, Multicultural Marketing, and Health Disparities. 

 

Primarily responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 
  • Partners with the chief diversity officer and acts as a strategic partner within the department and assists them in the design and development and implementation of business strategies, programs and policies aimed at improving recruitment, development, succession, and retention of a diverse workforce including people with disabilities, veterans, and the LBGT community.

  • Guides discussions with various leaders to develop a common understanding of a strategic response to the organization environment. 

  • Contributes to strategic insight derived from knowledge and analysis of industry and competitive analysis.

  • Drafts strategy papers and presentations used to present to key executive level stakeholders.

  • Makes recommendations and tests new and innovative ideas that create an inclusive work environment.

  • Recruits, retains, and develops a high performing innovative team of 3-6 associates toward the implementation of key strategic programs across the enterprise – through coaching and performance development.

  • Consults with HR teams regarding the strategic planning, development, implementation and evaluation of current and future diversity and inclusion programs against industry best practices.

  • Provides both high and detailed level of program management on schedules and budget and reporting to department leaders.

  • Establishes and builds sustained internal and external partnerships that move the inclusion and diversity programs forward.

  • Serves as a strategic consultant to the business on issues of diversity, equity inclusion, and affirmative action/EEO compliance and ensures the execution of internal and external initiatives supporting affirmative action/EEO compliance.

  • Proactively identifies opportunities to highlight the company’s diversity brand internally and externally through speaking engagements, publications, and other external PR and internal media.

Qualifications

Qualifications:
 
  • Requires a BA/BS in Organization Development, Management, Psychology, HR or related field; 5 years of experience in enterprise wide diversity and inclusion programming or combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background. 

  • 8+ years of progression and accomplished experience in a dynamic, data-driven Inclusion and Diversity strategy role.
  • Must thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment and excel in creating something from a white space.
  • Strong ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders concurrently.
  • Exceptional communication people leadership, relationship and influence management skills to lead and champion change.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills and project management skills.
  • Expertise in a broad-spectrum diversity dimensions.
  • Deep knowledge of succession management and talent review to include identification, assessment, selection and development of high-potentials/key successors.
  • Thought leadership in prevailing diversity and inclusion trends and leading practices of Fortune 50 companies.
