M&A Culture Transformation and Integration Director is responsible for creating and delivering programs to develop and engage associates and managers. 

Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:  

  • Leads organizational effectiveness projects to transform our current business environment into a high-performing organization.  

  • Leads the design and implementation of individual/team-based assessment tools. 

  • Creates organizational design approaches and partners with the business to implement optimal design structure. 

  • Provides organizational effectiveness consultation to business leaders across the enterprise to help facilitate optimal team and departmental performance.  

  • Manages vendor interaction including issue resolution and developing and reviewing statements of work. 

Culture Transformation: 

  • Lead the development and implementation of a best-in-class cultural assessment and integration process that will improve the associate experience and account for disruptive change to all elements of Anthem’s operating model (strategy, structure, culture). 

  • Contribute to the development of a standard enterprise M&A playbook and process, ensuring dependencies with downstream impacts are led effectively. 

  • Serve as a strategic thought leader for culture across the M&A lifecycle. 

  • Standardize cultural integration processes and document for future usage. 

  • Build reference documents to guide the approach and further support the execution of cultural integration activities. 

  • Create repeatable culture tools and templates to accelerate integration activities:  assessments, communications plans and framework, associate engagement tactics, etc. 

  • Review the associate experience at all levels to apply the lens of culture to moments that matter, including deal announcement, journey mapping, cultural assessments, onboarding and systems acess, training and mentoring, and ongoing communications, engagement, and enablement activities. 

  • In partnership with Corporate Development, HR and Communications, develop and drive a cultural framework and a campaign to engage and assimilate associates. 

  • Set clear and measurable cultural integration objectives and design a foundational cultural integration framework. 

  • Recommend reporting and analytics based on organizational needs and drive insights for dashboards and data. 

  • Ensure the desired culture is reinforced and applied through all M&A processes and practices. 

  • Take a systemic view of culture transformation participate in and/or lead cross-functional teams to align our integration strategy and goals to Anthem’s culture strategy and goals – operationally, strategically, and through change and communications frameworks. 

  • Contribute to the advancement of a culture measurement strategy to gain key insights in order to refine existing approaches and develop new ones. 

  • Proactively seek opportunities to partner effectively across the organization and with key stakeholders to integrate and align business initiatives and goals to culture. 

Culture Integration: 

  • Lead the cultural assessment and integration process for all acquisition activities, bridging the cultural divide and helping to align Anthem into one culture. 

  • Drive cultural diligence pre-acquisitions and serve as the point of contact on cultural integration activities for M&A deals. 

  • Ensure a positive and impactful experience to retain key talent throughout due diligence and the M&A lifecycle. 

  • Deliver an exceptional transition experience for all associates coming from acquired companies and manage the post-integration handoff for cultural engagement. 

  • Contribute to change management and communication plans for newly acquired associates. 

  • Based on the assessment of the acquired company’s culture compared to Anthem’s desired future state, develop a plan to assimilate the associates into Anthem’s culture. 

  • Partner with HR leads to deploy orientation programs to newly acquired associates and two-way learning programs to all associates. 

  • Manage risks and issues that pose a challenge to the integration execution and adjust integration strategy as necessary. 

  • Facilitate and or support large cross-functional integration planning meetings or workshops, leveraging best practices and approaches. 

  • Assist in developing and delivering analysis, recommendations, and presentations for senior executives to support strategic decisions. 

  • Drive the cultural engagement of associates from both companies before and after closing. 

  • Support newly acquired leadership teams in leading the cultural transformation. 

 

Qualifications

Qualifications: 

Required Skills:

  • Requires a BA/BS in related field;

  • 8-10 years of experience in related field, or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background 

  • Ability to travel may be required 

Preferred Skills:

  • Health/healthcare industry knowledge a plus 

  • Experience leading or participating in M&A deals in complex environments 

  • Experience with M&A culture assessment, due diligence, integration and alignment 

  • Subject matter expertise in the areas of organizational culture and HR 

  • Experience driving cross-functional projects independently and collaboratively 

  • Advance degree preferred

  • Working knowledge of HRIS systems 

  • The ideal candidate is someone who challenges the status quo and uses data, cultural insights, and strategic visioning to provide recommendations for engagement, generate ambassadors, deploy world-class experiences, and spearhead continuous improvement.
