Release Management Advisor

*can also be filled as a Release Coordinator Sr.

 

This release management position(s) reside in the Enterprise Release Management area. The incumbent must have the ability to analyze information from different application/infrastructure release management areas and ensure that all areas are operationally ready to implement. This may include but not limited to, assessment and resolution of release risk, monitoring pre-release health, identifying the impact of at risk work efforts, tracking, reporting and assessing impacts of open and deferred defects, status/closure, oversight of release quality KPIs, dependency analysis, milestone tracking, downtime analysis, and the implementation timings of different areas. Impact analysis and resolution of potential issues, release weekend status reporting and issue management, and release fallout is also included.

The incumbent is responsible for applying release; implementation and change management methodologies/procedures to ensure the goals and objectives of each release are met through early release planning and communication for successful Implementation. Primary duties in addition to release management team member responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Provides analysis and insight to release management teams, leads the release planning meetings for multiple platforms and project releases, manages Enterprise Releases, prepares and communicates success or failure of the release to management.
  • Tracks, assesses and helps facilitate the resolution of issues causing risk to the Enterprise Release.
  • Leads lessons learned meetings to improve release quality and facilitate process improvements.  Establishes/defines standards and procedures for release metrics reporting and documentation.
  • Provides direction for developing project release plans specifying goals, strategy, scheduling, identification of risks, contingency plans, and allocation of available resources for large scale program releases which include maintenance releases and special dedicated project releases.
  • Meets with other IT and Business programs to align release schedules and timeline to minimize outages and/or production risks to ensure successful implementation of all release components to meet the company commitments.
  • Management duties may include leading/mentoring and training release management staff.

Location:  Indianapolis, Mason, Atlanta, Richmond or within one hour from any existing Anthem office

 

Qualifications

Requires a minimum of 5 years IT experience, or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background. Experience in testing, SDLC, operations within IT and Business strongly preferred. BA/BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field of study and a minimum of 3 years experience in project managment strongly preferred. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and/or knowledge of project management methodologies with experience in managing multiple releases in a time sensitive environment strongly preferred. If this job is assigned to any Government Business Division entity, the applicant and incumbent fall under a 'sensitive position' work designation and may be subject to additional requirements beyond those associates outside Government Business Divisions. Requirements include but are not limited to more stringent and frequent background checks and/or government clearances, segregation of duties principles, role specific training, monitoring of daily job functions, and sensitive data handling instructions. Associates in these jobs must follow the specific policies, procedures, guidelines, etc. as stated by the Government Business Division in which they are employed.

 

Release Coordinator Sr.

 

Requires 5+ years IT experience and Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and/or knowledge of and proficiency in project management methodologies; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.  BS/BA, multiple trade certifications or other continued education preferred. Experience in testing, SDLC, operations within IT and Business preferred.
