Corporate Communications Director - (M&A, Strategy and Operations)

The Corporate Communications Director – M&A, Strategy and Operations will lead the development of internal communications plans and activities supporting Anthem’s M&A strategy and integrations, building a strong connection to Anthem’s purpose, mission, culture and values. The Director will be responsible for establishing communications plans that leverage multiple channels and platforms within the company. Additionally, the Director will help to ensure that our internal communications team efforts are driving maximum value for the business through strategic planning, prioritization and operational excellence. 

Primary duties may include, but are not limited to: 

M&A/Integration Communications
- Contribute to the development of a standard enterprise M&A integration playbook and process, ensuring dependencies with downstream impacts are led effectively. 
- Lead the development and implementation of a successful and repeatable integration communications strategy for acquired companies including tools and templates to help accelerate and strengthen the integration (communication plans, messaging / materials, associate engagement tactics, etc.)
- Establish a regular cadence of integration communications for newly acquired entities so that associates feel well-informed, valued and engaged and to ensure strategic decisions and changes are understood and accepted.
- Partner with the internal stakeholders to support overall communication and objectives during the integration process. 

Communications Strategy & Operations
- Partner with Corporate Communications leadership on strategic communications planning for the function to accelerate innovation, elevate performance and set communications standards and processes. 
- Support and facilitate Communications team skill development, collaboration, engagement and metrics.
- Brainstorm and create tools and processes to help increase efficiencies and team coordination and collaboration.

Work location: Any Anthem state; may consider other locations for most qualified applicant.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
Requires a BA/BS, preferably in English, Communications, Media or Journalism; 8 years of experience in a large organization or agency setting; or any combination of education and experience that would provide an equivalent background.

Preferred Qualifications: 
- Experience leading internal communications during and after acquisitions.
- Experience developing and delivering internal communications strategies.
- Experience in communications planning and partnering cross-functionally.
- Fluent in change management communications strategies and best practices.
- Experience in project management, with a focus on process improvement, data analysis, tool assessment and implementation. 
- Knowledge of the managed care/healthcare insurance industry.
- Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and writing communication skills.
